Admission Knocks

Admission Criteria

While reviewing applications, Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences place strong emphasis on an applicant’s academic qualifications, motivation, and suitability for the chosen program. Academic performance in previous studies is one of the most important factors considered, but institutions also evaluate the applicant’s statement of purpose, relevant work experience, research interests, and extracurricular achievements where applicable.

Many Finnish institutions seek students who demonstrate independent thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a genuine interest in their field of study. Depending on the program, applicants may also be required to attend an entrance examination, submit a portfolio, or participate in an interview.

It is also possible to transfer credits from other recognized universities, both within Europe and internationally, subject to the policies of the receiving institution. Finland follows the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), which facilitates the recognition of studies completed at other accredited institutions. This flexible system allows students to continue their academic journey with greater ease while benefiting from Finland’s high-quality education system. Every year, thousands of international students choose Finland for its globally recognized degrees, innovative teaching methods, and excellent career opportunities.
