Available Intakes

France offers two primary intakes for international students, providing flexibility in starting their academic journey:

  • Fall Intake (September/October):
    • The main intake for most universities and colleges in France.
    • Offers the widest range of programs and courses across all disciplines.
    • Application deadlines typically fall between February and May.
    • Ideal for students seeking a full academic year experience with ample time for internships and projects.
  • Spring Intake (January/February):
    • A secondary intake available at selected institutions and programs.
    • Suitable for students who missed the fall intake or prefer starting mid-academic year.
    • Application deadlines are usually between September and November.

Some institutions in France also offer rolling admissions or additional start dates for specialized programs, especially in business and management schools. Students are encouraged to check the specific intake schedules for their chosen university or program.

Program Duration and stay back period

  1. Bachelor’s Degree: Typically lasts 3 to 4 years (6 to 8 semesters), depending on the field of study.
  2. Master’s Degree: Usually takes 1.5 to 2 years (3 to 4 semesters) to complete.
  3. Doctorate/Ph.D.: Varies widely but generally takes 3 to 5 years to complete, based on the research area.
  4. Language or Foundation Courses: Usually last 6 months to 1 year and are designed to prepare students for academic programs.

France offers favorable post-study work opportunities for international students, allowing them to gain professional experience and explore career options after completing their education:

  • After completing a master’s or higher-level program, non-EU/EEA students can apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (APS) valid for 12 months, extendable for another 6 months. This permit allows graduates to look for jobs or start a business in France. Once employed, graduates can transition to a work permit or long-term residence permit.
