Available Intakes

  • Germany has two major intakes where you can apply to colleges and universities. The intakes available are as follows:

    1. Winter intake: This is the primary intake, starting in September or October, and offers the highest number of courses and opportunities for students.
    2. Summer intake: This is a secondary intake, starting in March or April, with a comparatively limited number of courses and is ideal for students seeking flexible options or specific programs.

Program Duration and stay back period

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Typically lasts 3 to 4 years (6 to 8 semesters), depending on the field of study.
  • Master’s Degree: Usually takes 1.5 to 2 years (3 to 4 semesters) to complete.
  • Doctorate/Ph.D.: Varies widely but generally takes 3 to 5 years to complete, based on the research area.
  • Short-Term or Exchange Programs: Can range from a few weeks to one semester, depending on the program.
  • Language or Foundation Courses: Usually last 6 months to 1 year and are designed to prepare students for academic programs.
  • International students who complete a full-time course in Germany are eligible to seek employment in the country under the Post-Study Work Visa regulations. This visa allows additional time beyond the duration of the study period covered by the German Study Visa. Students can apply for an 18-month Job-Seeking Visa, also referred to as the Post-Study Work Visa, to secure a job related to their field of study. During this 18-month period, students are permitted to work without restrictions and take on any type of employment to support themselves financially.
